Theme: “The Evolving Role of Finance Professionals”
Each year, this week, we celebrate the accounting profession and reaffirm the vital role finance plays in every aspect of life across our region.
Fellow accountants, members of the business community, students, and members of the public.
It is indeed an honour to address you at the opening of Accountant’s Week 2025, hosted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Eastern Caribbean.
Each year, this week, we celebrate the accounting profession and reaffirm the vital role finance plays in every aspect of life across our region.
This week is not just for accountants. It is for everyone — because finance touches us all. From small businesses to government projects, from families managing their budgets to young people planning their futures, sound financial leadership makes a difference.
That is why we warmly invite the general public to join us in celebrating Accountant’s Week. Do attend our sessions, take part in our activities, and share in the conversations that help us shape a more resilient Eastern Caribbean.
Our theme this year, “The Evolving Role of Finance Professionals,” captures a transformation that is both exciting and profound. The accountant of today is no longer confined to preparing financial statements. We are now strategic advisors, analysts, and innovators helping businesses navigate uncertainty, digital transformation, and the growing demand for ethical and sustainable leadership. We are called upon to be gatekeepers in the fight against money laundering, including bribery and corruption.
Technology, automation, and artificial intelligence are transforming our work. But even as tools evolve, our purpose remains the same: to protect trust, promote transparency and accountability, and guide sound decision-making.
We are called upon to play a key role in supporting growth, transparency and accountability, and helping both the private and public sectors to thrive.

We must also prepare the next generation, equipping young professionals with the skills and values to lead in this new era of finance.
I must express our deepest gratitude to our sponsors. Your unprecedented support this year has truly elevated Accountants’ Week. Your belief in the importance of our profession and your investment in its development are deeply appreciated. I also wish to recognize the International Federation of Accountants and the World Bank for the assistance provided to us over the years. On behalf of the Institute, thank you for your partnership and generosity – your generosity reminds us that collaboration strengthens both our profession and communities.
As we begin this week of reflection, learning, and celebration, let us remember that our profession is not defined by numbers alone — but by our integrity, our adaptability, and our service to others.
May Accountant’s Week 2025 inspire renewed pride in our profession, greater public engagement, strengthened public trust, and a shared commitment to building a stronger, more sustainable Eastern Caribbean.
